A Family Legacy Rooted in Arniston

For nearly 30 years, Etna's Southern Tip has been a trusted name in clean, well-managed self-catering accommodation. Property owners can have peace of mind knowing that their homes are cared for and marketed by experienced local rental agents with an intimate knowledge of the area and a genuine commitment to both owners and guests.

Our family's connection to Arniston dates back to 1921. Etna was born and raised in the village, where hospitality has been part of the family for generations. Her grandparents, Koos and Johanna Spamer, were fondly remembered by generations of holidaymakers as the owners of the Seaview Private Hotel and Boarding House.

Etna's parents, affectionately known as Oom Gideon and Tannie Rita, continued this tradition. They ran Arniston's only shop, the private hotel, as well as several annexes that provided accommodation to visitors — making welcoming holidaymakers very much a part of everyday family life.

In 1996, Etna and Danie began what was intended to be a small retirement venture, managing just four self-catering holiday homes for friends. Their vision was simple: to share the beauty and tranquillity of Arniston/Waenhuiskrans with more people — its unspoilt coastline, natural rock pools, fishing, peaceful atmosphere and wonderful weather.

Word spread, more homeowners entrusted their properties to them, and the little business steadily grew.

Today, their daughters, Cornel and Danette, continue the family legacy, combining the same personal approach and local knowledge with the experience gained over four generations. Etna's Southern Tip has also expanded beyond Arniston to include properties in Struisbaai, sharing even more of what this beautiful corner of the Overberg has to offer.

What began with just four holiday homes has grown into a flourishing family business — but its heart has remained unchanged.

It is a story of family, community, trusted relationships and a deep love for Arniston and the Overberg — a legacy built over four generations and one we are proud to carry forward.
